This week I reached a writing milestone and typed the sweetest two words an author can write. This is the end of the first draft of the second in the Toffee Factory Girls trilogy of books. Now for the hard work of editing! During Christmas week, it's been a joy to see my books received as presents. A real tonic! My final author events of the year - my writing week

Image
This week I've been making strong progress in writing the second of the trilogy in the Toffee Factory Girls series.  I aim to finish the first draft by January and then the difficult process of editing begins. Along with Sunderland University student Grace-Mae, I was featured by Sunderland University in a story about the creative writing award I've sponsored this year. You can read the full article here. Also this week I carried out the last of my author engagements for 2023. And what a wonderful way to finish! I was at Featherbed Books in Houghton-le-Spring. They're an indie bookshop, family run, with lots of heart and great books. Scarborough TV News came last weekend to my book launch for Foul Play at the Seaview Hotel. They recorded a very short interview with me speaking to Colin Powell and his son. Colin is the Manager at the Central Tramway in Scarborough, which features in a pivotal scene in my book. You can watch the  full video here (it's only 2 minutes long)...

Tea with the Mayor, Fun in the funicular - my writing week

First off I went to Scarborough for the book launch of my new cosy crime set there, Foul Play at the Seaview Hotel.    I called into Scarborough Waterstones to sign a mountain of books, which was wonderful! My book was prominently on display in their window too. Here I am in the shop with my books. And there's the very book in question! Got your copy yet?  Buy it now at bit.ly/FoulPlayAtTheSeaviewHotel Whilst in Scarborough I was invited to have tea with the Mayor Scarborough. I mean... how good is that? What a smashing bloke he was and he even posted this on his Facebook page. Then came the official book launch, held at the Central Tramway funicular in Scarborough. It poured down all day but that didn't deter Scarborough cosy crime fans and we sold a lot of books. Here are the books on display at the funicular. And here I am at the funicular station! The following day I was invited into Mrs Lofthouse's Book Emporium in Scarborough for a...
