A bit of a twit

I've joined Twitter and I'm not sure I like it. Following the twit feeds of celebrities I like on screen doesn't mean I want to know that they're a) being sicked on by their new babies or b) being wined and dined in an LA restaurant. I feel like I'm stalking, although the celebrity feed is open and they tell their twitting followers only what they'd like them to know.

But it's a feed I don't think I'm hungry for. Not sure how long I'll last there but if you want to follow me and find out what I'm doing - staring out of the window - contemplating my naval - then I'm flaming_nora. Tweet, tweet, my lovely.

Who would have thought Nivea and good grammar would mix?

Does the fact that this bad ad I spotted on the Piccadilly Line the other week- and it's been bugging me ever since - mean I should a) get a life or b) just get over myself, girlfriend? Probably both, but hey, Nivea is an international company who should be ashamed of getting this London Underground ad so very, very wrong. Picture nicked with glee from Cormac70 on Flickr.com. It's good to know I'm not the only one miffed by this. For more bad grammar goodies, have a look at The Grammar Blog.

Odd Olive

This blog gets, if its lucky, about 30 hits per day. (My other blog gets hundreds of thousands of hits per month but that's another story and another blog).

A few months ago I wrote a little blog post about Olive from On the Buses.

It's here.

And for some reason it's sent the statometer mad and I don't know why. Is Olive the new black? Are specs and greasy hair the in-thing? Is Olive the new Kate Moss?

Who knows?

And so I've updated the blog post about Olive to ask why so many hits are coming in on that post. If some kind soul tells me why, I'll share it with the other 29 of you who read this.

What a mare

Last night after too much cheese before bedtime, I had a vivid dream that I was in Dubai. It's not a place I ever want to go, but last night in my dreams I was there. It was such a strong, vivid dream that for the first time in my life I looked through the paper today to find a racehorse with Dubai in its name.

In the 3.30 at Lingfield was a horse called Dubai Storming so again, another first, I logged on to Ladbrokes and made a minimum bet of a fiver then sat by the telly to watch my horse win, dreaming of the cash I'd rake in. And guess what? The horse lost. I'm not sure who the bigger donkey was, Dubai Storming or me.

Springtime in the garden

Ok, so it's not strictly a gardening picture as all these plants are in pots on an outside windowsill but it looks lovely, nonetheless. I did tell the pansies to smile but they wanted to sulk with an arrogant air.

Cheesey pastiche

Gregg's pasties are fantastic. And not only is there a Gregg's on every corner in Sunderland but my home city now sports the country's first Gregg's to be open 24 hrs over a weekend and comes complete with two bouncers. Now, that's class.

Spring jollies 2009

Ah, spring jollies, one of my favourite trips of the year. This year we went somewhere new in Belgium where the beer was strong and the artwork was piercing.
