May in the garden

Image
Just a couple of weeks ago the garden was bright and shiny with tulips . Now they've passed over, and the garden heads from brilliant spring to bright summer, there's a softer shape and style to the flowers.  It just keeps on getting better. ______ I'm on twitter @flaming_nora

Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Hill House

Image
To Glasgow, on a return visit this Bank Holiday weekend.  Last year we took the train to Glasgow for a day as we'd never been before.  We set out to view as much Charles Rennie Mackintosh artwork and architecture as we could fit into one day.  You can read about that here . This time we returned for a weekend, to take in a visit to Helensburgh which was a 50 minute train ride from Glasgow.  And what a treat it was.  Mackintosh designed a house for Walter Blackie, publisher, from 1902-1904 and the house is now open to the public as part of National Trust Scotland. Sadly, taking photos wasn't allowed inside the building.  Take my word for it - it's stunning. It's beautiful.  It was worth the weekend trip to Glasgow to view it.  Pictures of the outside of the house and gardens were allowed and you can view my pictures at flickr. ______ I'm on twitter @flaming_nora
