Airport (Ooh-Ooh)

 With apologies to The Motors, 1978

We’ve been waiting nine minutes for this train.
We’ve been waiting all year for this moment.
Destination Airport.
“Airport!” you sing to me.
“Ooh-ooh!” I sing back.

Once I thought we were the only ones who did this.
And then we heard another couple sing.
“Airport!” she sang to him.
“Ooh-ooh!” he sang back.
You and I looked at each other, and smiled.

It’s dark, wet and 7am.
Everyone is wearing the face they go to work in.
Ours have gone for the next two weeks.
We’re the only passengers with a smiling face.
Flying away, flying away.

"I like that," you said

Was it item X, Y or Z?

You soon wore the same  

"I like her," you said
Of my favourite friend

Inserting a ream
Into the machine

You copied your history to her

Two-faces revealed 

Double-sided copying

Toner runs out

Friendship fades

You're a negative to me now

The Paddington poem

My dear Mr Bond

I find myself putting pen to paper today

To write a few words I have oft wanted to say

About the outfit you gave me when I came in from Peru

The hat and the coat might have seemed fine to you

But the duffel didn’t fit, it was always too tight

With pockets too small for sandwiches of marmite

Oh yes, and that’s another thing! 

At Paddington station

My culinary preference got lost in translation

Marmalade’s turned me fat 
But I don’t think you care

After all, to you, I am only that bear.
