Castle, Chocolate, Crime and Competitions - My Writing Week

This week I've continued to make good progress writing the first draft of The Bakery Girls I aim to finish the book soon and then there's weeks of editing and rewriting to do.

My author newsletter for May was sent to subscribers today. It has two competitions and some special news in it.  Read it online here.

I started to plan for the book launch of the final book in the Toffee Factory Girls trilogy. It's released on May 21 and is called Celebrations at the Toffee Factory.

I visited a brand new Waterstones store in the Arnison Centre, Durham.  It's wonderful to see new bookshops opening, and great to see my books on the shelves.

This week I also gave a talk at Guisborough Library for World Book Night. It was a talk about my Scarborough cosy crimes and I really enjoyed it. I received some wonderful feedback too. Thank you to everyone who came and made the event so special.

The winner was announced in my latest competition. Was it you? Find out here.

My next Scarborough cosy crime comes out later this year. It's called Music to Die For at The Seaview Hotel.  I was really happy to see it features in the Headline publishing catalogue of highlights for 2026.

My local newspaper, The Sunderland Echo, has a competition to win 1 of 5 signed copies of  Celebrations at the Toffee Factory.  Enter to win here.

Also this week, as a member of the Romantic Novelist's Association, I joined the local branch at a meeting held in Northumberland.  It even had a castle!

My new book is featured in In & Around Magazine. See page 13 of the magazine online for a competition to win signed books.

I was delighted to see my books in a sponsored post on Amazon, organised by my publisher Headline. Buy the series here.

My new book release was also featured in The Sunderland Magazine, thank you! You can read it all here.

And finally, an extra walking tour of my book locations in Ryhope have been added for Saturday 23 May with tour guide Ian Mole.  Interested? See the Facebook group.

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016.
