Keeping it local on World Book Day - My writing week
I've started writing my next historical saga for Headline. It's called The Bakery Girls and I've made a wonderful, strong start.
I held the book launch for the hardback version of Celebrations at the Toffee Factory. This was held in the Crafty Gift Shop in Chester-le-Street, on the site of the toffee factory which inspired the books. The lady who owns the shop decorated the window and is such a great support.
In another local, supportive shop, The Petal Patch in Ryhope (where my Ryhope sagas are set and where I'm from), a local trader is making mini versions of my books in a mini bookcase. I'll be offering these as a competition prize soon so watch this space.
And my author newsletter for March went out this week with a new competition and some excellent news. You can read it all online here.
I made the BBC news this week with the news that my cosy crimes are in development for the screen. Read all about it here.
And Redcar & Cleveland libraries are now advertising my talk there in April as part of World Book Night. Book your place here.
Events I've joined, coming up are as follows, please come and say hello!
Well, all the news about my Scarborough cosy crimes had a wonderful effect on my book sales, pushing Murder at the Seaview Hotel to No.1 Bestseller slot in Cozy Animal Mysteries - thank you to Suki, the crime solving rescue greyhound! Read more about that here.
After the first event sold out so quickly, Lumley Castle have asked me to return for an author talk and cream tea event, this time in June. Book your tickets now at the Events page on the Castle website (under Talks and Teas).
Elsewhere this week my new book Celebrations at the Toffee Factory was included in The Bookseller's list of paperbacks coming out in May. They also included an image of the book cover, which was good to see.
