Book Launch, Belgian Dirk and BBC Radio York

Ooh! Another busy week and I'm loving it. This week was the launch in hardback, ebook, audiobook and large print of the final book in the trilogy Celebrations at the Toffee Factory.

First off here's the real life Dirk who I named my character after in my book - Celebrations at the Toffee Factory.  This smashing man is Dirk Musschoot, a Belgian, who helped me with the research into the Belgian Birtley town of Elisabethville.

This was also the week when I began writing my next historical saga The Bakery Girls.  It's set in the slums of the East End of Sunderland in 1902. It's going great so far. 4 chapters written, 41 to go!
You can read an exclusive extract from Celebrations at the Toffee Factory at http://glendayoungbooks.com/celebrations

And the book launch is tomorrow - all welcome!

Plus my publisher Headline is offering you the chance to win all three books and toffees. Enter here.

And I was interviewed live on BBC Radio York this week, talking about the TV development of my Scarborough cosy crime series.  You can listen to the interview played back on Joanita Musisi's show of Thursday 26/02/2026 where I begin talking at 34 minutes in.

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016.
