Fortune tellers, short stories & making the shortlist - my writing week

This week I've been putting the final touches to the organisation of my research schedule (I know... I'm so organised, I can't help it, but it's the only way it works for my muddled brain!). This is for the second book in the trilogy The Toffee Factory Girls.  I'm going to research in York soon and needed to finalise my reading in advance of that so I know what questions I need to answer while in York.

I also visited Tesco this week where I saw my novel The Sixpenny Orphan on the bestselling shelf. What a joy that was.

My copy of The People's Friend Annual 2024 arrived. I've a short story inside called The Empty Chair which is a wonderful read.

I also have a short story in The People's Friend Special No. 247 which is in the shops now. It's a fun story about a fake fortune teller called Freda. It made me laugh out loud reading it again.

I was shortlisted in the Kilmore Quay Write by the Sea book festival short story competition!

I was longlisted in the Hastings Book festival short story competition!

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016 and you can find out all about it here.

I also kept the Coronation Street Blog ticking over with news and editing the team of 16 bloggers.
