This week has been about publicity for my new novel The Sixpenny Orphan. I'm delighted to announce that sales have been strong and the book is currently at number 53 in the UK bestselling books chart. If it cracks the top 50 next week I'm treating myself to a bottle of champagne! Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I was given a sterling review in the Lancashire Evening Post who crowned me "one of today’s most exciting new saga writers". Read it all here. The review also appeared in the Peterborough Telegraph and the Blackpool Gazette.
Blogger Ginger Book Geek (Amanda Oughton) said the book was "historical fiction at its best" - read her review here.
Blogger Julie from Bookish Jottings said "Master storyteller Glenda Young never disappoints and with The Sixpenny Orphan she has written another first-rate saga that will tug at the heartstrings, move her readers to tears and keep them reading way past their bedtime." - read her review here
Eagle-eyed readers might have spotted that there was no 'writing week' blog post last week. This is because I was on holiday. So here's a couple of photographs from my time spent at Filey Book Fair and Literature Festival. Photos are courtesy of the Book Nook bookshop in Bridlington.
Scarborough library has been closed for a long time while refurbishments took place. On the grand opening day this week, this picture below was sent to me, showing my novel The Girl with the Scarlet Ribbon in pride of place. The pic was sent to me by Lel Melayel, who is Chair of Scarborough Writers.
I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016 and you can find out all about it here.
