It's about a young girl called Pearl who lives with her aunt Annie in a run-down room in a pit village. To make ends meet, Annie works the streets at night and when Pearl turns 16, she wants Pearl to take to the streets too.
But Pearl has other ideas for her future... can she really escape a life on the streets?
