The very long longlist
I'm on cloud nine today, really over the moon.
Last night I found out that two short stories I'd entered into the Sunderland Short Story Award 2016 (in association with Waterstones) had both been longlisted.
Admittedly, it's a very long longlist with 87 stories on it.
But I've never been recognised for anything involving my fiction writing before, so you can imagine my excitement.
I've gone a bit giddy kipper.
As a non-fiction writer, I've only been trying my hand seriously at fiction over the last few months. I've had some success too, with stories accepted by The People's Friend magazine and Take A Break's Fiction Feast.
I might just celebrate with a beer tonight.

Though don't underestimate the achievement of acceptances in TaB and PF - they are definitely acknowledgements of your fiction writing ability as well!
