Who would have thought Nivea and good grammar would mix?

Does the fact that this bad ad I spotted on the Piccadilly Line the other week- and it's been bugging me ever since - mean I should a) get a life or b) just get over myself, girlfriend? Probably both, but hey, Nivea is an international company who should be ashamed of getting this London Underground ad so very, very wrong. Picture nicked with glee from Cormac70 on Flickr.com. Calm down, dear (as M Winner would say).
What gets me is the amount someone earned for this when thee and me could be doing it better for half the price.
My students made that 'of'mistake all the time - so I didn't notice at first.

All they needed to do was finish the ad with "innit" and I might have believed it was an ironic comment on the state of education in the West...

LOL You remind me of Niles Crane, who spent ages in the men's loo because he was correcting the grammar of the graffiti!!

(I hate slipshod grammar too, btw)

It's disgraceful. I use one of their products but when it runs out I won't be buying any more. I have no desire to be associated with a company with such a low regard for literacy.

kaz sent me here - I've heard it stated somewhere that the of/have thing is so common now that some pundits have accepted it as OK modern usage - it doesn't bug me as much as inaccurate apostrophising.

Researching for my novel Pearl of Pit Lane I spent the day at Beamish Museum on a clippy mat workshop. And if you're wondering what a clippy mat is, it's also known as a proggy mat or a rag rug. The BBC puts it like this: Proggy mats were a common sight in working-class homes in the North East of England until the mid-20th Century. Made from old sacks and recycled fabric they were an economical option to keep feet warm and toasty in an era before fitted carpets were the norm.
