Just finished reading two very different books about the life stories of two very different men. I recommend both. First off was Adam Ant's autobiography Stand and Deliver. Even if you're not a huge fan of the man, and I'm not, it's an entertaining and quite sad read.
And the other book was the biography of Mafia man Henry Hill. The book spawned one of my favourite ever films, Goodfellas and the writer of the book, Nicholas Pileggi has also written the book on which another film up there in my top five all time favourites, Casino, was based too.
'Such a good writer. She's fantastic!' Woman's Hour, BBC Radio 4

Misread Henry Hill as Harry Hill at first (blame the eye infection). Made for a weird series of connections in my brain. Harry Hill and the mafia??? Are you sure?!!
Would love to read the Adam Ant book... I feel some shopping about to occur...
Goodfellas is one of my favourite films too! Also read the Henry Hill biog when going through my 'Mafia phase' - reading it, not joining it, that is.
Steve: I highly recommend the Adam Ant book, it's a cracking read.
Poet Laura: what other mafia books would you recommend?
I read the Adam Ant book and I totally agree - unexpectedly good.
Lots of surprises and recent history about punk etc.
