Riverside 450th Milestone, Language Learning and Taking a Break - my Writing Week

Image
This week has been very relaxing . I celebrated my birthday, which was great. Also, I'm in the luxurious stage of having no book-writing to do as I'm taking a book-writing break until the end of the year.   This long break gives my thoughts a chance to calm down, characters I've been holding in my head for months can walk away and I can start to rest my mind.   Until it all starts again next year! This week I was overjoyed to see a language school in Whitby using the Italian version of my cosy crime set in Scarborough - Curtain Call at the Seaview Hotel - for language lessons. This makes me very happy indeed. Don't forget that until the end of August, you can download Murder at the Seaview Hotel for just 99p. Download it here. Also this week the winner was announced in the competition to win a copy of the book with a box of Milk Tray chocolates. And a milestone was reached this week as my soap opera Riverside published its 450th episode in The People's Friend maga...

Short Story, 99p offer, An Audience With and a new competition - My Writing Week

Image
This has been a milestone week as I sent off my fifth cosy crime to my publisher, Headline.  There's still a long way to go through the editing process before it's considered 'done'. Now I wait for it to be returned with suggested edits. Then I grit my teeth and go back in and unpick things that need doing. It's hard work but all worth it. It makes for a much stronger book in the end. In the run up to my ballroom dancing cosy crime Deadly Dancing at the Seaview Hotel, being released, I've a short story in this week's My Weekly magazine. It's about the world's grumpiest dance teacher. My first cosy crime Murder at the Seaview Hotel is just 99p this month. Download it here . Bargain! I've got another competition running on my blog for you to win two of my books with a Scentsy room warmer.  Enter here. And I called in at The Word in South Shields, one of my favourite places in the northeast. I'm speaking there in September as part of the Write...

Keep Dancing, Keep Writing, and Enter to Win - my writing week

Image
This week I've continued editing my fifth cosy crime novel. It's a slow and careful process unpicking what doesn't work and strengthening the parts that do.  It'll be ready in a few more weeks after more careful picking and knitting it back together. There's a new competition this week to win a signed copy of Murder at the Seaview Hotel and a box of Milk Tray. Enter here. My August newsletter was sent out. It has a new competition, a 99p offer and a cover reveal. Read it all here. Also this week I popped into The Crafty Gift Shop in Chester-le-Street. It's the only shop in the town that sells books. If you're in the area, do call in and support a wonderful local business. This month my Scarborough cosy crime Murder at the Seaview Hotel is just 99p. Download it here. And as I get excited about this year's Strictly Come Dancing - my favourite TV show - here's a preview of my next cosy crime to be published later this year!  Pre-order it here. My cosy c...
