Beach walk today with a calm sea and a stormy sky.
And then I found this odd looking stone, or is it half of a shell? It's quite large, and if anyone can help me identify it, please leave a comment below, thankyou.

Mr Blue Sky
Today's picture from our walk on the beach. A cold day of just two degrees with the tiniest hint of warmth struggling to reach the earth from a watery sun. And then this, in the grey of the sky and the steel of the sea - a sliver of blue sky in the shiver of a day.
On the way home from the walk, spoke to someone who has a friend spending winter in Tenerife. And yet, there are joys to be had on cold, winter days such as these and I wouldn't have missed today, here in the cold, frosty and ice-covered north-east, for the world.

Midweek mindfulness
Pictures taken today in the middle of the week.
Beach walk, mid-morning. The sun was shining and even had some heat in it yet there was frost on the pavements. Unbelievably, there were also three swimmers in the sea.
A tiny shell on tiny grains of sand.
And back home, to the garden, to a solitary and very determined crocus. Spring is on its way.

Squashing pebbles in the sand
I'm going for walks on the beach a lot. Almost every day since December 3rd last year, I've walked for an hour on the beach. I walk one way, turn around, and walk back. And every day the beach looks different. I especially love walking on damp sand in heavy walking boots, squashing pebbles into the sand.
The two pictures were taken today, a winter day on the beach. The sun was shining with just the tiniest bit of warmth coming from it. But it's warmth that reaches into my very soul.

Grand Hotel UK fan website
For fans of the Spanish language soap opera Gran Hotel, I've created the UK's only fan website.
Grand Hotel, as it's known in the UK, is billed as the Spanish Downtown Abbey but it is oh, so much more.
Find out what it's all about at http://grandhotelfans.blogspot.co.uk/

Tinsel on, Tinsel off
When to take the Christmas tree down is a sore point in our house. I want it down on January 1st - out with the old and in with the new.
And then there is the point of view that would like to keep the tree up until 12th night.
And so this year we settled on a compromise. The tree was taken down on the the day after the Christmas Radio Times ran out.
Our Nordmann fir has now gone to be recycled. It's what it would have wanted.
