Durham Miners' Gala, Peterlee, Glass Onion and Fru Fru - My Writing Week

A quiet week, as I begin to wind down after a few hectic months at the start of this year. I'm taking time to enjoy holidays and days out, being with friends and family, taking a breath and slow down.

Meanwhile...  Enter to win a signed book and a big bar of chocolate. Good luck. The competition is here.

Tour guide Ian Mole has arranged another walking tour of my book locations in Ryhope. If you're interested, it's on Saturday 29 August at 1pm and costs £10 per person. Sign up at the Facebook group here.

And this week I gave a talk to Peterlee History Group, which I thoroughly enjoyed and received some wonderful feedback.  Thank you everyone for inviting me along.

And here I am at Durham Miners Gala which is held on the second Saturday in July each year. My book The Miner's Lass was advertised on page 18 of the programme as I donate each year to the Durham Miners Association.  The Gala is my favourite day of the year and it's an honour to be involved in a small way.

I also visited the wonderful Fru Fru & Friends shop in Grangetown, Sunderland, to top up stock of my books which they sell.  They have a great cafe inside too.

And my books are now for sale in the very friendly Glass Onion Bistro on Blandford Street in Sunderland. Pop in and buy one, have a coffee and one of Carl's amazing scones and cakes!

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016.
