It was always a fight in our primary school class when it was time for our music teacher (Mrs Morphy if memory serves) to pick out those who were going to get to play the instruments.
The xylophones and glockenspiels were everyone's favourites. Having to play the triangle or the tambourine must have felt like being picked last for a football team - I'd imagine.
Our oldest daughter brought home a recorder today - yes... we were nagged into forking out £3.50 for it. I remember when my wee sister used to have one - it drove me up the flaming wall.
