Wishing and hoping and writing and thinking - my writing week

This week included Christmas and it's been magical and quiet, the perfect combination to rest my busy mind.  Afterwards, with time to relax, I began writing my first book in The Toffee Factory Girls trilogy. It's going great, and I'm 18,000 words in so far. Just another 77,000 to go. Gulp.  I'm loving that this time I'm writing from the perspective of three different girls, instead of my usual single heroine. It's a fast paced storyline with lots of twists and turns, set in a northeast toffee factory at the outbreak of world war 1.

Wonderful news from Sunderland Waterstones this week. They've sold out of my Christmas book A Mother's Christmas Wish (thank you!) and now readers are returning to buy my other novels including cosy crimes. My special table has been restocked! Thank you Waterstones Sunderland for all your support.

In other news, I'm looking for a safe place to write in Sunderland city centre, just one full day each week. I need peaceful working space where I can leave my laptop and belongings when I take a break from writing in the middle of the day to take a walk and get some fresh air. Can you help? Any suggestions? Please get in touch via my website.

I've got a new competition - you can win one of my sagas plus a box of Thornton's Classic Chocolates Enter here

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera
Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016 and you can find out all about it here.

I also kept the Coronation Street Blog ticking over with news and editing the team of 16 bloggers.

See you next week!

Tabloid tart and bookshop bingo - my writing week

This week I was in Newcastle Waterstones where I signed copies of my cosy crimes.

And in Sunderland Waterstones I popped in to sign copies of all of my books!

My Christmas novel A Mother's Christmas Wish was one of Pauline's Picks at South Tyneside library and you can watch the short video here.

My Christmas short story Silent Night was published in the Saturday magazine of the Daily Express.

And it was also published in the magazine of the Sunday People.

And in WHSmith this week paying at the till, I spotted a man with 2 of my novels. I told him I'd written them, he asked me to sign them for his wife for her Christmas gifts. We were both beside ourselves with joy!!

Gift shops, bazaars, Tik-Toks and Newcastle Noir - my writing week

This week I put the finishing touches to preparation for the first book in my next trilogy of novels. This means, rather scarily, that I'm now ready to begin writing next week.

I attended the 17nineteen Christmas Bazaar and what a lovely night was, signing books and singing carols.

My novel A Mother's Christmas Wish was included in Take a Break magazine this week, which was a lovely surprise.
I also appeared at Newcastle Noir crime writing festival on a panel called The Bloody White Rose talking about crime novels set in Yorkshire. A brilliant event, loved every minute!

I signed more copies of A Mother's Christmas Wish  at Sunderland Waterstones.

And my next saga The Sixpenny Orphan  is included in Headline's publishing highlights for January - June 2023!

Tik-Tok & Instagram marvel Kathrine Taylor (aka NorthEast Nostalgic) has been walking around Ryhope visiting locations from my novel A Mother's Christmas Wish.  Watch the short and fun video at instagram.com/p/CmHllSnIM4p

My novel The Miner's Lass has gone on sale in the beautiful Mining Art Gallery in Bishop Auckland, which makes me very proud.

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016 and you can find out all about it here.

And I popped into Sunderland Waterstones to sign copies of my new book. They have lots of copies, all signed, so do pop in and buy one.

I also joined Sunshine Co-operative in Sunderland for a book signing as part of Small Business Saturday and signed lots of books, it's such a gorgeous shop. (Next door to Pop Recs).
