60 (more) books for 60 years - my writing week

Last week was my 60th birthday and I donated 60 of my novels to Ryhope community centre. This week I donated 60 more to Ryhope Saint Paul's church charity shop.

Also this week, the competition is still running to win a signed copy of The Toffee Factory Girls. Enter here.

This week I went on a recce around Ryhope to prepare for my guided walk for Heritage Open Days. All places have been filled and there's a waiting list now.

Also for my 60th birthday last week I received this wonderful original artwork from Scarborough artists Lynne Arnison. If you've read my Scarborough cosy crimes you'll recognise who and where this is!

And this week was a big celebration. It was my 400th episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside in The People's Friend magazine!
And from last week, a picture of me at Ryhope Community Centre when I donated my 60 books.

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016 and you can find out all about it here.

I also kept the Coronation Street Blog ticking over with news and editing the team of 16 bloggers.

2Tone, Coventry, Short Stories and Cake - my writing week

This week I had a short story published in The People's Friend Special, out now in all of the shops. My story is a fun seaside story called Donkey's Years.

I took a trip to Coventry for personal reasons and whilst there dropped into Coventry Library to deliver bookmarks and postcards.

I was also nominated for Writer of the Year in the North East Culture Awards 2024. There's still time for you to nominate me too if you'd like to - and here's the link to do so.

Elswhere this week I went for a lovely lunch at Elemore Park in Easington Lane, County Durham and had a lovely surprise! My books are for sale in their shop. Do visit, they sell gorgeous cake!

Criminally good, coffee, crack and Top 10 downloads for July - my writing week

This week I visited the beautiful city of York. Whilst there, I called into the wonderful indie bookshop Criminally Good Books. As their name suggests, they are crime novel specialists and I'm proud and honoured to say they now stock my Scarborough series of cosy crimes!

My three cosy crimes all starred in the
Top 10 Downloads of July with Listening Books which stormed the charts again this month!

Elsewhere this week, The Crack listings magazine in the northeast gave a mention of my talk on my novel The Toffee Factory Girls.

And I love receiving readers' pictures of my books!  Here's one sent to me on Twitter by someone enjoying a coffee with my latest Scarborough cosy crime.

Also this week I gave a talk on The Toffee Factory Girls at 17nineteen venue space in Sunderland. Thank you everyone who came and who bought a book too.

I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016 and you can find out all about it here.
