Just finished reading my first Roddy Doyle book, The Woman Who Walked Into Doors. It wasn't the most comfortable of subjects to read about but it's a book I can highly recommend, all the same.

I recently re read it after finding
out there is a sequel. I highly recommend 'Paula Spencer' next.
It is easily as good as the first but full of hope.
Like you (up to a few days a go that is) I have never read a Roddy Doyle book though plenty have been recommended to me. Maybe it's time I parted with a little cash to rectify this?
Trina: Thanks VERY much for the heads up on Paula Spencer, I'll definitely buy that one, really felt Roddy Doyle got under the skin of the character and would love to know more about how she ended up.
Steve - yes, this book is highly recommended. Not an easy read though because of the subject matter.
Glenda: Hi from Canada. You will love Paula Spencer and I can highly recommend The Barrytown Trilogy; The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van. The funniest books, really well written and must haves I think.
hope you think so too.
I'm loving Paul Spencer so far, thanks again Trina
