Ah, spring jollies, one of my favourite trips of the year. This year we went somewhere new in Belgium where the beer was strong and the artwork was piercing.
Glad you enjoyed your jollies. I have nothing but miserable memories of Belgium. I took a Eurostar to Germany and had to change in Brussels. Don't know whether you've been to Brussels train station, but it's like a rabbit warren. With my GCSE French I stumbled around for over half an hour, being sent from one platform to the next - all of which were almost impossible to find. When I did finally find the right platform, my train had long gone. I ended up having to wait four hours for the next connection and most of those in tears. I now fly to Germany and bypass Belgium entirely. What did it give the world anyway, apart from beer, the saxophone and Poirot? LOL
I adore Belgium and recommend it heartily. So far we've visited Brussels (twice, Brugges, Leuven, Ghent, Antwerp and Mechelen. Chips, beer and chocolate - what more do you need?
We're having two nights in Brussels in May, though one of those days will be a day trip to Bruges. Taking Eurostar back to London. Hope to see you there.
We'll be arriving Friday evening on May 8 and leaving Sunday morning. Maybe the friday evening? we'll be ready to eat by the time we arrive so we could go for a bite the four of us. Not sure what we're doing on Saturday yet, though i'd like to check out Notting Hill.
Beer and art. Great apart. Great in combination. Great when they're one and the same. Glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteI must try Belgium soon.
ReplyDeleteI love beer and I'm very surreal.
