The longer ...I've run a book club for 10 years. The longer you're a member the more often you'll find "giving up half way" is a common experience. Before book club I don't think I'd ever NOT finished a book. Now, I don't finish probably two in three. Some I don't even bother starting, having read a few reviews. <br /><br />Which is odd, considering the reason I joined in the first place was to "read stuff I'd not normally pick up." Turns out there's a reason you don't pick them up.<br /><br />BUT - just occasionally there's the odd gem (and this was clearly one of those for you) which makes the whole experience worthwhile. My most often quoted example is "a million little pieces" which I couldn't put down. "The Reader" was one of those too - finished it in a single afternoon. Finding something like that keeps you wading through the dross, but from a writerly perspective you'll find yourself thinking "HOW did THIS get published, when I can't??"<br /><br />*shrug*Diggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10136839126571878980noreply@blogger.com
