The gardening spoon

This manky old spoon is an absolute marvel.  I found it buried in the soil one day while gardening in our London garden a few years ago - and I kept it.  It's incredibly useful for gardening. I don't mean digging, hoeing or doing anything heavy - that would just be daft. It's only a spoon.

Where it comes in very handy is for handling seedlings and transplanting them from seed trays to small pots, as I've been doing today.  The gentle scoop of the spoon ensures that seedlings are lifted without too much stress and then placed safely in their new pot.

It's less of a manky old spoon and more of a marvel.

Very Virgo - the final reckoning

Carrying on my quest to find the perfect horoscope for my star sign, here we go with the final day of Very Virgo.

In the interests of research and with my daily horoscope for my sign of Virgo - via Horoscopes.co.uk - I'm blogging every day this week from Monday 23 March to Friday March 27 with my horoscope from that website. And then I'll let you know if it came true. Or not.

Here's my horoscope for today, Friday March 27 2015
Whilst part of a large group you could build friendship with a Leo or Scorpio. The attraction's likely to be their determination to find something that's 'perfect'. The Leo might be going about this in an obvious way, whilst the Scorpio is getting there by stealth. You could help both by introducing them to an expert. Indeed, it's through your network that a problem could be solved. This introduction could earn you extra points (and later, perhaps, a discount).
Did any of it come true, make sense, touch a nerve, relate to my life in any way at all with what happened today?

A tiny bit of resonance, that's all.

In what way?

A close friend who is a Scorpio (I had to check what a Scorpio was) is the same close friend I helped earlier this week with a major project (see Day 3). I have given her some introductions and she is getting to her project via stealth.  And if the project comes off, it will have been aided by my network contacts I have passed on to her.

Do you think it'll earn you extra points or a discount?

No, that part's not relevant.

Is that it?

Yes.

Today's the last day of the week for your analysis into your star sign. How do you feel it's gone?

I wanted it to be wrong every day, and on a couple of occasions it's been spot on. I find that quite eerie and yet quite comforting at the same time.  I do wonder if I'd chosen a star sign other than my own if the experience would have been similar, though.

You're such a cynic, aren't you?

Yes.

And what's been the best thing about analysing your star sign this week?

Talking to myself through the medium of my own blog posts.

Thankyou.

It's been a pleasure.

No, thankyou.

I'm going now.

You go first.

No, you.

You.

You.

I've gone.

Very Virgo - Day 4

Carrying on my quest to find the perfect horoscope for my star sign, here we go with Day 4 of Very Virgo.

In the interests of research and with my daily horoscope for my sign of Virgo - via Horoscopes.co.uk - I'm blogging every day this week from Monday 23 March to Friday March 27 with my horoscope from that website. And then I'll let you know if it came true. Or not.

Here's my horoscope for today, Thursday March 26 2015
Nerves could be stretched every which way when neither people nor machines behave as you want them to. An instruction manual might be more than a little challenging. As the day progresses and the more creative side of your brain gets to work, you find the answer to this puzzle. A Cancer friend might have useful tips too.
Did any of it come true, make sense, touch a nerve, relate to my life in any way at all with what happened today?

Well, here's the thing. Not really, but... I helped my brother (a person) with a spreadsheet on his computer (a machine) and then printed it out for him on his printer (another machine).  Nerves were stretched, but they weren't mine, they were my brother's, who was in a panic as neither the people (my brother) or the machines (computer and printer) behaved as he wanted them to. So it's not directly related to me, but I can make a connection if I screw my eyes up tight and try really, really hard.

Did you read any instruction manuals today?

No

Are you sure?

Yes.

And what about that bit about as the day progresses, the creative side of my brain got to work?

That bit is scarily accurate, although it didn't help solve a puzzle. At the end of today I went to my writing group, where my brain soared high on a creativity buzz.

And did a Cancer friend have any useful tips?

I don't think I've got a friend under the sign of Cancer, at least not one I'm aware of, and if I do then it's not someone I met today, so that bit is a load of blarney.

Are you sure, to be sure?

Oh yes.

You're quite enjoying talking to yourself through the medium of blog posts, aren't you?

Er....

Very Virgo - Day 3

Carrying on my quest to find the perfect horoscope for my star sign, here we go with Day 3 of Very Virgo.

In the interests of research and with my daily horoscope for my sign of Virgo - via Horoscopes.co.uk - I'm blogging every day this week from Monday 23 March to Friday March 27 with my horoscope from that website. And then I'll let you know if it came true. Or not.

Here's my horoscope for today, Wednesday March 25 2015
A close friend might now be ready to launch a little campaign now that they know they've got you on board. Designs and planning seem likely to take up most of the day - but not to the exclusion of an older person (born under one of the Fire signs of Aries, Leo or Sagittarius) who really needs recent developments in their life to be acknowledged.
Did any of it come true, make sense, touch a nerve, relate to my life in any way at all with what happened today?

Gulp. Yes  - and in quite a major way too. My close friend Lynn who runs this website wanted to meet to discuss a huge project she's involved with and asked my advice, and yes, I'm on board with it too to help her in any way I can. However, it didn't take up most of the day, it took up an hour over coffee.

Did it take up time to the exclusion of an older person?

No.

Did you know you're talking to yourself via the medium of your own blog posts?

Yes.

Very Virgo - Day 2

Carrying on my quest to find the perfect horoscope for my star sign, here we go with Day 2 of Very Virgo.

In the interests of research and with my daily horoscope for my sign of Virgo - via Horoscopes.co.uk - I'm blogging every day this week from Monday 23 March to Friday March 27 with my horoscope from that website. And then I'll let you know if it came true. Or not.

Here's my horoscope for today, Tuesday March 24 2015
Internet shopping in the quest to resolve a long-standing domestic problem could take longer than you imagine but yield the right goods at the perfect price. It's possible too that you'll use this medium to compare holiday travel prices. In relaying information later in the day, you could enthuse someone to plan ahead with you. Combining forces is another of the day's big themes.
Did any of it come true, make sense, touch a nerve, relate to my life in any way at all with what happened today?

No.

So I didn't do any internet shopping, or have a domestic problem (long-standing or not) or compare holiday prices?

No

How about the bit about combining forces?

I'm sitting down to watch the telly with my husband. Does that count?

No.

Talkin bout my meditation

Every day since January 12th this year I have meditated. It was prescribed to me, it works and I've been doing it daily ever since. I never want it to not be a part of my life.

There's no special way to sit, look or dress for meditation. That's why images like these are misleading and harmful.
You don't need to be gym bunny. You don't go 'omm...' (unless you want to) and you don't 'zone out' (ditto).  Meditation isn't about relaxation, although this might happen. It's not about chilling out, tuning out, getting in touch with your inner gnome.

It's about awareness. And with heightened awareness, the ability is there to change how you feel.  So forget the image above, the white clothes, the crossed legs, the 'omm...' of it all.

Instead, sit down on a chair, or on the floor, open a mindful meditation on YouTube and do this, daily. Repeat and enjoy.

Very Virgo

I secretly enjoy reading Horoscopes.  I say 'secretly' because I don't subscribe to the fact that astrology can predict what is going to happen in anyone's lives, and I don't believe that only 12 personality types exist, one for each sign of the zodiac. But I secretly peek at my Virgo horoscope every now and then in the hope it'll tell me that today's the day I should buy a lottery ticket becaue I'll win big.  Horoscopes - I know they're not true but I secretly hope they are.

And so in the interests of research and with my daily horoscope for my sign of Virgo - via Horoscopes.co.uk - I'm going to blog every day this week from Monday 23 March to Friday March 27 with my horoscope from that website. And then I'll let you know if it came true. Or not.

Here's my horoscope for today, Monday March 23 2015
Someone could call your bluff - or a deadline might be brought forward. Either way you might feel you're taking action before you're good and ready. To do this is likely to require following a gut instinct. The mood of a Taurus friend may have been a major factor up until now. It's possible that they've driven you too far though - and now you need to show you're in charge.
Did any of it come true, make sense, touch a nerve, relate to my life in any way at all with what happened today?

No.

Do I even have a Taurus friend?

No.

Tune back tomorrow to see if tomorow's prediction comes true. I don't know about you, but I can't wait. If it gives me the winning lottery numbers, I'll be sure to let you know.

Coronation Street Weekly Update - Streetcars chair of shame

I've been writing Coronation Street weekly updates since 1995 and this week's Coronation Street update has just gone live here

This week on Corrie,  Steve and Lloyd bonded over a broken chair.  Yes, I know that's a picture of Billy the vicar, who has nothing to do with Steve or Lloyd or Streetcars. I just think he's lovely.
